The Fox on the list that wasn’t until it was

Image
Painted this fox. Had some other stuff I needed to do, but decided it could wait. Which wasn’t the case. I just painted this fox and it had to wait because of it. I think some of the stuff to do is still on my list.  What are you like pith lists? Do you have em? Have you crossed painting a fox off your’s yourself? I’ve crossed it off mine. Which isn’t the case.  I had to write it on after I’d painted it so I could cross it off. Things just work like that sometimes  Here’s a hedgehog I painted also.  Perhaps sone explanation is required. You must look elsewhere. I have further business to attend. Once done I will cross it off.  As was previously stated but perhaps you must it: if it was not on the list in the first place I will add it. Following which I will off cross it, I will cross it off, I will stop. Stop

Rabbits have been sighted here, but I think this is a hare

Image
In a standing position, at the edge of the trees on the track. You are back where you started. The field to your left has been planted.  This is not the evening you ran down it to help a man discover the whereabouts of his lost dog. He had told you it’s name but you misheard it. You ran shooting ‘Ammo’, but it might have been Arlo. You didn’t find the dog but why would you when you were calling it’s name incorrectly.  It is still on the track by the trees. They are pine trees. Late evening in June. The air is cooler here The sun has yet to set. The tops of the trees receiving the breeze.  It can be hard to set the scene. The earth is still wet and moves with each movement through it. There is a further addition. There are trees also along the edge of the field to your left that has been planted. These are fir trees.  Beneath the fir trees there is a gap through them. Rabbits have been sighted here, but this is a Hare, i think. Julie who cuts my hair says she sees a...

The watering can on the old table in the window. There would have been a bed sheet on it, but the roofs leaking and the table gets filthy

Image
I painted this watering can because we were asked to put things on a table clothe and arrange them so they weren’t in the middle. This was after the class. I was told to make the darker areas darker when I painted something like this, and the table cloth brighter. I didn’t have a table cloth, but I did have a table and a bed sheet. But the table in the garage is set up where the roof leaks and so it’s all churned up and filthy.  I decided to do without the table cloth. I make artistic decisions like this all the time and the audience just don’t know what to do with themselves — continue watching? Go for an ice cream? Throw something? Don’t throw anything if you aren’t willing to accept the consequences. There are people who live in glass houses, apparently, but they are not very numerous. Mostly they just grow their tomatoes and try to keep out of it.  But it’s not always easy. Sometimes you walk in and you know you’re not going to be able to get anything right for them. The...

Me and Paul holding a pistol

Image
Me and the young lad Paul. He is holding a pistol. Don’t be mucking about with him in any situation such that he might use it. It might go off. That’s how it happens in the films.  He got it off whoever and I probably borrowed it to lie on the grass behind a car when we were playing gun games. There was a whole dangerous situation we needed sorting out. The others were posted at different points up the road, hid behind walls, peering around corners like in the films.  I was lying flat on the ground behind the car. It was my favourite place to hide. You could watch for foot steps under the car. If you were quiet, you could hear them coming. Just before I went to secondary school I went to play on the building site at the end of my mate’s road. There were all sorts of places to hide in there and walls to lean up against and imagine the camera close up of your face with the pistol before you turned. There was to a lot of this behaviour when I was older and it was important to g...

Self Portrait

Image
No, I think this chap was just standing in the road when the rain started to fall, and the chap in his van was listening to the football scores and the scores of mostly men in cardigans (they weren’t wearing cardigans) were running onto the field to the celebrate. ‘Celebrate your love and celebrate your hate,’ the chap said in a mood that was quite substantial, as his mother slept in the next room, and his father ran over a phrase some more that was lightning. ‘It’s lightning,’ he said the next time he saw his son and he showed him. And his son said, ‘Just play it slower so you can feel it. To hell with it being faster. I mean, it’s all very impressive, but if you can’t relax into it, what’s the point.’ The point was that the magazine said it was important and properly required. But what if it wasn’t? The chap got up and went to the window.  He was not tired. The town was quiet.  The woman who chopped the tree down in her garden to make way for a summer house she had yet to ...

The trees on the geeen in front of my grandmother’s bungalow

Image
A2 mount board is big stuff and awkward to store in the homestead. Because of which, I am sticking this here, before it gets anymore scuffed on the floor in my little room. Observe the trees and the shadows cast by them. You are standing beneath the trees, in the shadow cast by them. It is a singular shadow cast by a number of them.  The leaves are made of chalk, some of them, but mainly it is that they are acrylic leaves. I tried to make the light out of chalk.  There are perhaps some further trees in the distance, but you would have to walk a greater distance than I have painted to find them. Or just turn around, which is a possibility for you also, but it depends where you are standing, and how many trees are around you at the time  These trees are on the green in front of my grandmother’s bungalow (apostrophe, yes, but even when she was around it was owned by the Trust and rented out to them). The view in the distance is not what’s there - there are some houses, but...

Stanley - the chap with the coin tray purse in his National Trust bum bag

Image
This is my Granddad. It’s not like, cos my Granddad was a person and this is a picture.  But it is correct that he used to have a bum bag hanging off him quite frequently when we were kids.  Contained within it was all sorts of important business: car keys, his coin tray purse. Debbie: 'Coin tray purse? What is one of them when it's at home.' I asked the internet and it looks exactly correct, so I must be right. Debbie: 'Well done.' I met my Grandad in 1987. He was likely very excited to meet me. At the time he was certainly taller than me, but I managed to make some progress in this, over the coming years, and eventually he lost a yard of pace and then they said he could have a can of John Smiths in the hospital and he remembered who I was immediately, the moment that I walked round the corner.  He was born in Blackpool, possibly, and then his Granny brung him to York cos his Mam was busy doing other stuff. His Granny died in his 20's and he went into lodging...
